Allergan Breast Implants

Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) develops in the fluid or scar tissue surrounding the implant, not in the breast tissue. BIA-ALCL is not a breast cancer, but a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Symptoms include persistent swelling or pain around the breast implant.

In 2017, the FDA announced BIA-ALCL is primarily associated with textured implants such as Allergan. On July 24th, 2019 Allergan announced a voluntary worldwide recall of BIOCELLĀ® textured breast implants and tissue expanders.

It is alleged that Allergan, Inc. and its subsidiaries did not properly warn women of the potential dangers associated with textured breast implants.
