SB877 Passed!

We are happy to report that SB877 – an Arkansas Senate bill regarding ignition interlocks – has passed!

The overall purpose of this bill was to remove the language which made “ignition interlock” optional. As the law reads currently, persons who are convicted of a first or second DWI have the option to have an “ignition interlock installed to drive or he/she can wait out their license suspension.” Many repeat offenders are caught driving without ignition interlock and driving on a suspended license. SB877 will strengthen this prevention tool and prevent repeat offenders from causing 100% preventable crashes on our Arkansas roadways.

Thanks to everyone at MADD Arkansas for their hard work and dedication.
