News You Can Use: Airbag Recall Update

Since our last post about the massive Takata airbag recall, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released a new, updated list of all vehicles that may be affected. The airbags, which may deploy improperly due to faulty inflator and propellant devices, are thought to affect as many as 7.8 million vehicles.

Listed below are several ways to find out if your vehicle is affected by the recall:

  • The NHTSA has updated their list of recalled vehicles, which you can view here.
  • Go to https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/ to look up your vehicle by VIN (vehicle identification number).
  • You can also call the NHTSA’s Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for more info.

If your car has been recalled, contact your local dealer immediately to find out what your next steps should be.
