MADD on Arkansas Senate Bill Regarding Ignition Interlocks

Important information regarding AR SB877 from the Arkansas chapter of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving):

The overall purpose of this bill is to remove the language which makes “ignition interlock” optional. As the law reads currently, persons who are convicted of a first or second DWI have the option to have an “ignition interlock installed to drive or he/she can wait out their license suspension.” Many repeat offenders are caught driving without ignition interlock and driving on a suspended license. SB877 will strengthen this prevention tool and prevent repeat offenders from causing 100% preventable crashes on our Arkansas roadways. Please ask your Senators to support SB877.
